| Name: | Captain James Tiberius Kirk |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | 01-25 |
Age: 25 Appearance: Ruggedly handsome, in that good old-fashioned Iowa boy way. His mother claims he looks exactly like his father, and from pictures Jim can spy his father's unruly hair just a few shades darker than his own. His blue eyes are sharp and intelligent, despite his first impressions that often give others the idea that Jim's not as smart as everyone says he is. He's well-built and strong, having to be in order to fend off all the boyfriends he's had to leave bruised and bloody. History: Where to begin? Jim Kirk's existence is a miracle in and of itself. He was born on a shuttle off of the USS Kelvin, minutes after his father saved over six hundred lives -- including his own and his mother's. Despite such a bold, fearless feat, it ended in tragedy. Only seconds after he was given his full name - James Tiberius Kirk - his father's ship crashed into Nero's. Kirk grew up as a rowdy boy in Riverside, Iowa, with his mother and his stepfather. A rebel at heart, Kirk could hardly avoid getting out of trouble. One of his first encounters with the law occurred when he was ten years old and drove his stepfather's car off of a cliff -- only barely managing to get out in time. Despite his rough ways, despite his always getting detention and becoming a world-class heart breaker at a very young age, Kirk could have definitely been, as Christopher Pike put it, perhaps the only genius repeat offender in Iowa. But destinies change. After that fateful night -- the night when he first met Nyota Uhura and proceeded to have the living shit beaten out of him by her fellow cadets, James T. Kirk set out upon his new destiny -- he enrolled in Star Fleet and came in contact with Dr. McCoy, a man he affectionately refers to as Bones. Three years later, he became the only captain ever to defeat the Koboyashi Maru -- a nearly impossible test which Spock created. After two failed attempts, the impossible became possible, Kirk passing it by somehow taking advantage of a flaw in the program design. Thus began Kirk and Spock's long, grueling rivalry. At the resultant hearing of whether or not Kirk cheated, Starfleet receives a distress signal from Vulcan that indicates the appearance of a lightning storm in space, and the cadets are mobilized to help crew the ships in orbit. McCoy smuggled the grounded Kirk aboard the USS Enterprise as a patient under his care. Kirk recognized the similarities between the Vulcan incident and the encounter that destroyed the Kelvin, and warned Pike that the fleet was heading into a trap. Even still, it was nearly too late. The enemy ship captured Captain Pike, leaving Spock as first-in-command, and planet Vulcan destroyed by the red matter. Kirk's naturally argumentative attitude clashed with Spock's steady sense of logic, wanting desperately to seek revenge for both his father's death and the destruction of a planet. At threat of a mutiny, Spock had Kirk marooned on Delta Vega -- on which a rather odd series of events occurred. For one, Kirk met Spock -- but not the current one, who had only just gotten rid of him. No, Kirk met Spock Prime -- a wise, intelligent version of Spock from the alternate dimension. He also met Montgomery Scott, a revolutionary engineer who could do the impossible. |
